Context

Why WinLEW has a burn allocation

WinLEW's original tokenomics set aside a 10% burn allocation — supply intentionally earmarked for permanent removal over time, separate from circulating supply, liquidity, and reserves. The project's long-term goal is to permanently burn 100,000,000 WinLEW. August 1 has been used publicly as an annual project benchmark for talking about burn progress — it is not a guaranteed scheduled transaction with a committed amount; see the timeline below for exactly what has and hasn't happened on a specific date.

This page is deliberately neutral about what burning does not guarantee: a token burn changes supply, not price. It does not promise price appreciation, does not guarantee increased market capitalization, and is not an investment return. Treat every figure below as a tokenomics/supply fact, not a financial projection.

Target vs. reserve vs. completed burn — three different things: the 100M target is a long-term goal, not tokens already set aside anywhere. A reserve or staged amount (shown below as "Awaiting burn") is WinLEW sitting in the burn wallet that has not yet been destroyed — it is still part of total supply. It used to be freely moveable, which is exactly what the Aug 16 2026 lock addressed — see the note below. A completed/confirmed burn uses Solana's actual token burn instruction, which permanently and irreversibly reduces the mint's total supply — verified below by reading each transaction's own instruction data, not by trusting that "sent to the burn wallet" means "destroyed."

The burn reserve is now locked, not just staged (Aug 16 2026): 40,000,000 WinLEW was moved out of the burn wallet into two Jupiter Lock escrows of 20M each, leaving exactly 10,000,000 in the wallet itself. The reason is tamper-proofing: burn-staged tokens previously sat somewhere the project could still spend from, and now they cannot be touched before their unlock dates. Locked is not burned — all 40M is still part of total supply and none of it counts toward burn progress. One 20M tranche unlocks Aug 1 2027; the other releases in three annual instalments from Aug 1 2029 to Aug 1 2031. Both escrow addresses are listed on the Transparency Center.

The 10M left in the wallet is what is scheduled to be destroyed on Aug 1 2027. That is the same date one lock opens, and they are two separate events: the 10M is burned, the 20M merely becomes movable again.

Reading the events table: it now lists the burn wallet's complete history back to February 2025, so most staged rows are marked "Staged — since consumed". That means those tokens arrived in the burn wallet but no longer sit there — they were destroyed by a later burn, or moved out when the wallet had to be emptied. Only rows marked "Awaiting burn" are tokens actually there right now, and they add up to the wallet's live balance shown above. Buying is not burning either: rows typed buy-and-burn-market-buy are open-market purchases into the burn wallet — they count only once a real burn transaction destroys them.
